Cloudcherry’s part in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Campaign Clean India)

A lazy Saturday morning with overcast skies and the regional meteorology department issuing a warning that there is a storm coming (sounds like Dark Knight) didn’t stop us. We Cloudcherry’ians gathered up as early as 9.15 am for a Clean-up campaign at our new office. The idea for this initiative was seeded by our Admin manger Selvakumar, who already prepped us for game-day by getting the necessary gear – gloves, masks, cleaning solution and other tools.

Interestingly, the initiative was brought to life by us literally a day before the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Campaign Clean India) was announced by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi! And on the day it was announced, our Admin manager had the biggest smile on his face and even went on to announce that maybe he should be the next Prime Minister!

The cleaning started by our ‘man Friday’ Biren from the front porch which was covered by a rubble of dried leaves, twigs, stones. Our Lead dev Sudha, Web dev Madhu and Srini our Senior Designer started moving the heavy rocks while analyst Arjhun switched to lumberjack mode, chopping the unwanted branches from trees nearby. Then the rest of the team was involved in sweeping waste away.

Mobile apps dev Femil amped up the entertainment by exhibiting his inner superhero traits during the cleaning. Software dev Prasath and I started sweeping and helped in moving the rubble to the waste bin. The rubble collected was much that we decided to move the waste bin to our place. Selvakumar supervised the paint job for the new office. We did get a lot of attention from the neighborhood and passersby.

Finally after clearing the entire spot we were glad to get the job done. With pat on our backs and customary selfies, we returned back to our office exhausted and drained out. And when our hunger pangs struck, the call was made – for Pizza!

This is the start of many more initiatives which are going to follow up in the coming months – just our little part in doing what we can to contribute, work as a team together and make a difference to our lives – and others, as much as we can!
